Review on Targus VersaVu Apple IPad (7/8/9Th Gen) 10 by Aaron Clayton

Targus used to be a great company making solid products, but that's no longer the case. I've had this case for half a year already, as others have said, the clasp on this case is not a very good design. The silver letters fall off fairly easily, which is cosmetic, but that shouldn't happen with a case this expensive. However, last week the plastic inside the clasp broke completely and the case is no longer holding up. It's time to try the guarantee. The good news is that Targus says it will replace the case under warranty (still waiting to find out). The bad news is that filing a warranty claim is harder than it should be. When filling out the online form: 1) the form does not contain this case's model in the drop-down list; 2) the form asks for "serial number" but the file only has numbers named "F/C" and "PO"; and 3) the form does not contain enough characters to enter all of this information into the fields, including the date. I tried calling customer service and after waiting on the phone for a while the rep said they could do a warranty exchange. However, they first require you to send in a case before receiving a replacement, leaving your iPad unprotected. Many companies do an advance exchange where they will ship you the case and then charge you if you don't return the defective one. Targus used to do this too, but support said they changed that policy last month and won't be doing it again. I even offered to buy a replacement case first and then ask them for a refund if the defective case is returned. This is usually more time and labor intensive than making a warranty claim. Seems Targus tech support was more interested in ridding me of my phone than fixing the faulty hardware. Conclusion: I will think long and hard before buying another Targus product.
