Review on ๐Ÿˆ Multi-Magnetic Catwalk Door+ by Michael Hudson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

2 years old, two cats, never had a problem!

When we bought a house in the country, we decided we needed a door for our cat that would keep other animals out. After digging around the internet, we decided to try the catwalk model. Batteries don't age. I pulled the window out of the basement and replaced it with a piece of Plexiglas. I cut a hole in the plexiglass with a Dremmel and a cut-off wheel, one for the cat door and one for the dryer vent. I chose the basement window under the porch so I don't have to worry about snow blocking the door in the winter. I live in upstate New York. VERY IMPORTANT! It is worth noting that I bought a multimagnetic model for installation on glass. This is the same as above but with a round bezel and the ability to install through thin stock. Choose this type if you plan to mount it on plexiglass or just drywall. Also, make sure you buy the one you need. They have standard magnetic and multimagnetic models. Standard magnet models don't lock other animals in, they just have a magnet to help close the door. It's actually a regular cat flap. They even have a clear model for installing glass, but it's NOT multimagnetic (won't block critters without a magnet). She has been working flawlessly for over 2 years, with 2 cats. I can't say it's completely raccoon proof; The raccoon can put his little fingers under and behind the door and open the door. However, this is very unlikely. This is to deter stray cats, of course. My cat lost his collar and magnet when it rained and I'm sure he struggled to get in. When we got home we found him soaking wet on the street. Cats always lose these things. Make sure you cut a hole big enough, don't try to fit it into a hole that will snap or it won't close properly. I also had to cut the weatherstrip on the top sides of the door a bit to keep it from sticking out ajar. The door should be made of durable plastic. Sounds like good plastic, but the main reason this door doesn't break like cheaper doors is because of the design. The hinges are stronger than other cat doors. Multi-lock disk can be set for entry and exit, entry only, exit only and locked. Unlike cheaper doors, the dial stays where you set it and doesn't wobble in a different position. All in all a well thought out, well made product.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
