I used this hole saw to drill a hole in 1 1/2 inch thick granite and it cut through it with no problem. Since there is no pilot drill on this tool I had to create a simple template to hold the correct position while using it. This is not intended to be a criticism of the tool, just for information. I am happy with this purchase.
