Review on Dynaplug Ultralite Tubeless Tire Repair by Imed Artun

Works great, compact

At this year's Cleveland Motorcycle Show, I saw a product that I was so impressed with that I bought it. This is a Dynaplug tire repair tool. I carry a standard car tire repair tool in my tool kit along with car tire plugs in case I ever hit something in one of my tires that caused a flat tire. However, this tool is designed for car tires with large plugs, designed for plugging deep tread car tires. I was hoping that this tool would work on my bike in an emergency if I needed it, but never had the chance to test it to be sure. The Dynaplug tool consists of a small insertion tool with an aluminum handle. The end of the tool unscrews, and inside there is room for small plugs. Each plug has a small brass cone at the end. The plug is inserted into the working end of the tool, the foreign object is removed from the tire, and the plug is inserted into the tire. After the tool is fully inserted into the tire, it is withdrawn. The brass head of the cone remains in the tire and the rest of the plug remains and covers the hole. If the hole is too big for a plug, you can put more plugs in the same hole until the hole is sealed. Plugs are only suitable for punctures on the surface of the tire tread. A tear or puncture in the sidewall of a tire cannot be patched or sealed and the tire must be replaced. Although I haven't had a flat tire to test the system out yet, I did get a chance to try it out on a bike in Cleveland. Show. A hole was punched in the motorcycle tire and I inserted one of the plugs. As soon as I took the tool out, the end of the plug was sticking out of the tire as shown in the picture. The representative said that when riding a motorcycle, the protruding part of the connector would wear out very quickly, leaving a hard, sealed connector. Inside the tire, conical points are clearly visible, which are pressed against the inside of the tire surface. No amount of force will push them back through the puncture so I'm pretty sure they will seal the hole in the tire perfectly. Various Dynaplug types are available. There are some that have reamers to clean and smooth the hole before inserting the plug - but for temporary repairs I wouldn't bother with that. And that's exactly what I would consider. Motorbike Tires: Temporary repair so you can change the tire. The packaging says the product is certified by a European testing lab for permanent repair, but personally I would only ride a clogged motorcycle tire in an emergency. I now carry a Dynaplug tool in my tiny bike air compressor tool box. It's small - about the size of a small screwdriver - and takes up much less space than my original automotive connector kit. While I can't say it works great until I've had a chance to use it, it's nice to know I have the option. Read more: http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php? f=18&t=21201
