I received two of these bean bags last week for my grandchildren ages 9 and 3. The outer pockets are washable. The boys love them and I love the quality. Both bags were well filled with approximately 1/3 x 1/4 inch Styrofoam beads. What I do NOT like is the way the outer zipper came undone when the younger boy plopped onto the big rattle and the inner pocket had a small 5 inch tear in the seam and lining fabric resulting in a few balls flew out. It took my daughter and I over 20 minutes to assemble the balls, most of which were between the liner and the lid. I sewed up the opening and inserted the liner into the plastic lid that the rattle was packaged in for shipping, before I stuffed both of them. back to the outer case. I hope it takes a long time before the cover needs washing because all those balls create a lot of static electricity that can't be stuffed back into the liner! The inner lining is a thin polyester mesh and stretches slightly to allow for movement when the pockets are in use. Unfortunately, they also seem to tear easily. I paid over $120 for these two bean bags and I love them, but fixing one in less than a week isn't what I was looking for.
