The mailbox was easy to install, especially as I already had my pressure-treated metal mailbox; I just had to cut the rack to the right height. However, after seeing damage to the plastic base (near the ground) of a mailbox of the same model in other homes in our area, I was concerned that I too would do the same damage with my string trimmer. So the biggest part of this project was installing a paving platform (sort of) around the base of the mailbox (see photo). The only other comment I have is that we noticed wet mail after a few showers. I'm still not sure if this is due to a message from the postman or if there is water dripping from the top of the door into the mailbox when the door is opened.
