Ideal for slippery surfaces and to keep the water clean.
I would 100% recommend it, it has a sponge inlet to protect your shrimp/fish and a carbon filter to keep the water clean if you are using tannins or black water and the best part is that it soaks up the top layer of protein and keeps it clean and also helps to aerate the water better. The flow is adjustable, fair warning the flow isn't great when you fill it with charcoal and a sponge in there. The only part you need to take care of is the skimmer part. If your shrimp like to hang near the surface, I just used a piece of plastic mesh and it works like a charm.
