The outlet has built-in protective shutters that prevent foreign objects from entering the outlet, as with many new outlets. This can make plugging in the connector difficult the first few times. Make sure both tines of the fork make contact with the air slot at the same time. Do this a few times and the shutters will come off. USB sockets enable fast charging. I tested this by plugging my Samsung phone directly into a USB outlet and measuring the time it takes to fully charge. Then, when my phone's battery dropped to the same level as in the previous test, I plugged the Samsung fast charger into a regular outlet and the full charge time was the same. There's probably a more scientific way to test, but that was close enough for me. In general, I am very satisfied with the sockets.
