Review on πŸ”Œ Vantrue 11.5ft Mini USB Dash Cam Hardwire Kit: Fuse Holders, Low Voltage Protection, Apeman, Rexing, Toguard, N2 Pro, N2, T2, N1 Pro, X4 Compatibility by Patrick Reynolds

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Takes the guesswork out of installing a DVR. Works in most cases. Complex kit.

Likes: - Includes more than what is needed for installation: separate wires and fuses for each fuse type. - Quality crimps and components - Good wire lengths - Well packaged - Good price Dislikes: - *May* interfere with fuse box cover, although unlikely to do so. - The extra loose cable has to be stored somewhere. It would be nice to have a way to shorten some of them. I would recommend this as a time saver and hassle when installing a dash cam. This gives a cleaner end result compared to the OBD port that comes with some Vantrue cameras. Incidentally, this works with all dashcams with a mini-USB connection and 5 V. Depending on the application, you can set it to a switched ACC circuit (key on) or an always-on circuit. If you want 24/7 surveillance including motion detection, you need an always-on circuit, which I did. Most cameras turn off their main power and record until they detect a bump (acceleration) or movement (check your camera's specifications for this setting). At that point, they turn back on and record. Hence the need for a constant power supply. You only need one tool for installation: loosen the screw, slide the U-shaped ground connection onto the base and tighten again. Everything else just requires hands. Someone may need additional tools, but they are not needed.
