Not sure yet - Good service from OS

Bought on the recommendation of a friend who had good luck with their device. Mine worked on the first meal but when it came time to use it again the probe went bad. OS agreed to send a replacement but cautioned: A. Don't touch the probe to the grill or anything really hot. B. Do not cover the cable with the mesh cover as this will melt the wires where they contact the cover. C. Do not use it in indoor oven. New sensors are $10. They also recommended another model that they sell. Assuming a new probe fixes this and I can find a way to use it with the grill lid closed I should be fine. Ultimately, this product seems to have some flaws that the operating system didn't anticipate. So if I were to start all over again, I would buy a more expensive model that solves problems better. It was convenient to work with the OS on the phone, which is a plus. My plan now is to protect the cable and use it when needed (lid closed) and be careful not to touch the grid with the probe. This may mean cutting the probe cable and replacing it with a teflon insulated cable. My current (bad) sensor is shorted, so it could just be a wiring issue. Maybe I can save him too. To update. Got a brand new install of OS today. Seems to be working fine. I never managed to get the first probe to work. Good service, but be aware of usage restrictions.
