This works great for my standard USB ports. But the USB-C port stopped working (or maybe never worked!). Until recently, I didn't use the port on my MacBook Air for a while. When I first tried to connect an external hard drive via USB-C, the hard drive actually didn't show up. Tried several different USB-C ports and various other USB-C ports (external GPU, monitor, etc.). Nothing. No connection. When you pay $80 for something, you expect it to work the first time or last for years. It looks like a good setup, but it's clear that they're not interested in long-term reliability, they're interested in short-term profit.
