I'm a bit of an idiot. I bought it in 2016 when the price was now $250 instead of $150. If you've ever heard of the silicon lottery, I didn't win. I hooked it up to the wrong motherboard at first (since the motherboard can't power this monster) and then, after switching to a much more reliable motherboard, I couldn't get my CPU to overclock the slightest bit. . It even has serious problems when overclocking to 5.0 GHz, which it should be able to do without further ado. I had to lock it at the default 4.7GHz to keep it really stable during video rendering and even when playing Minecraft (hell the game isn't a multithreaded workload so it's just trying to overheat 2 cores ). Under gaming loads, this processor is definitely not a source of bottlenecks. Great processor, pretty high Cinebench scores, and great performance. I just hope everyone else gets a better one than me that can actually handle a factory turbo!
