We have hard water so I'm used to replacing the stem assembly in my Symmons Temtrol valve. Usually the piston is stuck because it is jammed. This kit looked like a good deal because my local plumbing store was asking $49 just to swap out the stock assembly. I ordered this because I lost the tool kit needed to change the valve seats and this kit included the tools and new seats for less money. I found that none of the tools fit on the valve seats. The instruments were too big. I've tried the tools in both old and new valve seats and they didn't fit either. So I replaced the stem and reused the valve seats. When everything was ready, a trickle of hot water flowed from the faucet when it was closed, so it parted again. I found that the head of the bolt holding the rubber seat at the end of the new stem assembly was almost twice the size of the original, so I took the bolt from the old stem and put it on the new stem. The problem is solved. I think the new bolt head was interfering with the gasket. So now I have a working faucet and a bread bag full of parts I couldn't use.
