Review on Taylor Precision Products Stainless Mechanical by Kim Fukushima

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Serves its purpose and is quite expensive

These days it's difficult to find a hand-wound kitchen timer with a precise mechanism and a loud, steady chime at a reasonable price. Taylor's mechanical timer is accurate, and the chime is loud enough to be heard in the next room unless there's a lot of ambient noise (like a loud TV). It's also very quiet: you won't hear a tick unless you hold it close to your ear. My main objections are that the ring doesn't last very long and that when I turn the dial to "5 minutes" or "30 minutes" I don't feel the tension (resistance) that mechanical timers used to have. I recommend it because it gets the job done, but I've had the last mechanical timer in a decade and the smooth winding mechanism makes me wonder if this timer will last anywhere near as long. However, since the price is relatively low, I agree with three years.
