Review on Linksys EA6200 AC900 Wi-Fi Wireless Dual-Band+ Router with Smart Wi-Fi App & Remote Network Control by Chad Boho

No way to secure the guest network

Overall this router seems pretty good but I don't know for sure - I opened it 15 years ago minutes and now I'm going to box it up to send it back. The problem is in the guest network. Instead of a simple secure WPA2 password, it uses a fully open and insecure network for its guest network. Instead, you have to open a web browser (on an insecure site) and enter a password, which is incredibly annoying in hotels. It's too confusing for the average guest. More importantly, it's incredibly unsafe. And if you use a VPN to connect to your workplace, forget it — with more secure VPN settings, you can't even open a browser to enter that password. Any device connected to the guest network (including your phone) will need to reconnect and re-enter the password each time you leave the zone, or let your device go to sleep long enough to disconnect from the WiFi. I could go into detail, but someone else has already done it for me. I really couldn't believe my eyes when I started setting up the router, so I checked to see if I was missing something. nope I only wish I had found this article before I wasted my time buying this stupid thing. EDIT: Revain doesn't allow URLs in reviews. Just google "Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Makes a Stupid Guest Network". This is an article on ComputerWorld.
