I was dying to get a Prime Day discount for using my Revain Rewards visa but when I was shopping I got to the point where there was nothing I *needed* other things, so I took the liberty of adding this cross stitch kit to my basket (I have a parrot tulip - I've had my eye on it for a long time). I'm a fan of Dimensions cross stitch kits that are almost 20 years old and the Gold Collection kits are among my favorites. However, these are some of the most expensive sets out there and buying them always feels like a luxury that I don't do that often. In fact, I'm not going to finish this for a long time as I only have a few hours. a week to work on it. (I started with ivory, so part of the vase is finished.) As with most cross stitch and close-up photography, I use a backlit magnifying glass, which is completely easy on the eyes. It's not the smallest print I've ever seen on a cross stitch kit, but if you're at all familiar with cross stitch, you're probably at least a little familiar with eye strain. In any case, I like the design. It's going to look great in my house (one day) and I think it tastes great. The materials are of good quality as always. Fabric - ivory/cream/beige Aida or solid fabric (I think it's 18 gauge fabric, I don't have a set right now but definitely a square, less than 14 canvas!). If you're worried about ragged edges, tape the edges of the fabric with painter's tape before you start (although I've had no problems so far). I use a sewing frame to make it portable and lightweight and it works well. The pattern is printed in cyan, magenta, and black on two sheets of paper (half each). There are also instructions, as always with cross stitch kits, but to be honest I haven't read them. If you're an experienced tacker you don't need them, and if you're a beginner you'd better start with a few small projects to see if you enjoy this hobby. The symbols are easy to distinguish, I didn't notice any typos. The yarn is delivered pre-sorted and marked. It makes me happy. I can't tell you how frustrated I've been with kits in the past trying to tell the difference between Dusty Rose, Light Dusty Rose, Pale Rose, Pink " etc. to recognize. This problem was fixed here. You might still want to use a different thread organizer, but at least the sorting is done. It's easy to match the thread with the characters. Most stitches are made in two strands, but ivory is knit in three strands. Again, you get TWO needles instead of one. There's also some (okay, a lot) gold thread here. Gold thread isn't my favorite material, but it makes the end result really pretty (rather than garish). In the end it will keep me busy for a long time and I find the quality of the materials. pretty cute. The chart is easy to follow and I love the touch of the extra needle and presorted thread. I'm definitely glad I took it.
