Bottom line these things are easily better than regular bed rails. Much softer, easier to install, more portable for trips to grandma's, etc. Big enough that kids won't roll off, but not so big that they can't climb over to get into bed. The only issue we had is the bumper fitting snugly under some of the sheet metal sets. If you have a thinner mattress or sheets with deep pockets, no problem. In addition, despite the "non-slip" underside, they tend to move further towards the edge of the bed. Secured at the bottom with a couple of large safety pins.
