A good knife at a great price

I needed a good paring knife and got it. This knife comes almost as described. The blade is steel with good thickness and strength. It's a complete fragrance. The handle is chic, made of acrylic, solid riveting. It is also ergonomic, feels comfortable in the hand and is easy to use. But the description is not entirely accurate. The blade is not sharp at all. If that were the case I would be in the ER right now when he cut my index finger opening the package. I should have been more careful, but as it turns out, I didn't have to. Not exactly a scratch. I tried to shave the hair off my forearm: no. Cutting a sheet of paper: more torn than cut. Peel apple: almost impossible. But that doesn't mean it's a poor quality knife. That means it had to be sharpened. So, I sharpened it. Now it does all of the above and pretty well. Confession: I've tried everything but cutting my finger, but I'm 100% sure it will. I read at least one reviewer who said it wasn't easy to sharpen and that if it became dull he would throw it away. It would be a waste. Apparently they used an electric sharpener. These things are garbage. I used a fairly inexpensive set of water stones. It took about 15 minutes and I was razor sharp. Light, light, lemon. With proper care, this knife will last a long time. The instructions say to hand wash. This is the standard for all quality knives. Is this the best paring knife I've ever had? No, but not the most expensive either. This knife is worth the price.
