Hori generally makes high quality video game peripherals and in fact I already have a clear Hori case for my Nintendo 3DS which I'm generally happy with. So the good news is that the Mario art case included in this set is the same clear case as mine but with Mario art on it. The case comes in two separate pieces and attaches securely to the top and bottom of the 3DS.
