The product appears safe. I took off a star, that's due to the buttons, one of which was damaged on arrival, it looked like it had been cut off so it doesn't stay in place. Otherwise it's a great product and it's really up to date. I bought this to wear shorts so we're talking direct skin contact and it's comfortable. Wearing them over pants is still comfortable. The straps were long but I have skinny legs so that's understandable. The first collision was with a large rock being lifted from a truck. The blow was strong, I was sure it was broken. When we got to our destination it wasn't damaged, just a minor scratch and it was a roughly 4 inch rock at 60 mph. It was worth it for me, I have a habit of touching the silencer with my knees so it protects me from that too, it leaves the back of my legs open, but I'm usually more careful with it here, otherwise I'll learn quickly 🤣. I will say if I hit the ground straight I have a feeling it will just break but at least it will break the blow with less damage. Good luck riders and stay healthy! I forgot to mention that I have a cruiser, in case that matters. Advantages: comfortable, light and airy. Cons: Plastic snaps for easy removal of the padding, mine was damaged but I imagine they break easily.
