My son loves it!: Construction toy

My son is too small for this as I bought it when I found it for a good price (not Waiting). However, at 14 months he LOVES it. He really likes carrying blocks around (and let's be honest, he likes banging them on objects). He had just figured out how to place the forms in their intended places and was intrigued. There are a few criticisms from other reviewers that I wanted to respond to. First the design. This item appears to be made of plywood, so the wood is layered. It's not composite, but it's not as heavy as real wood either (which is good, otherwise it would be a bit dangerous I think!). The quality seems quite good, although there are small "dimples" visible at the joints (supposedly where they were attached from?). The blocks seem strong enough not to break (even after HEAVY hitting from a very enthusiastic one year old) but not so heavy that it hurts. Second, done. Some reviews complained that the wood was rough and chipped. Although the blocks don't have the glossy finish I was expecting, I didn't find them rough or chipping. I actually liked the more matte natural look. Finally a place to store small parts. Several people have complained that there is no space to store small parts after the blocks are nested. This annoyed me at first, but then I decided to just store the shapes in their respective boxes when I've stacked them inside each other (so the star goes in the blue box, the orange box with the rectangle inside goes on top of it, that green box with the triangle in it and so on) and it actually works great. The shape makes the boxes protrude a bit (so they're not stored in a perfectly compact square), but it makes it easier for my son to pick them up one at a time (rather than picking up a big, heavy box and throwing them all away). . So I found that if you think outside (or inside?) the box, storage isn't a problem! Overall I LOVE these blocks and my son loves them. We had no issues at all, but I'll definitely update my review if they ever come up.
