I can use this socket to play the new iPod Nano via PA during breaks in my group. At first I thought it wouldn't work because the fit is pretty tight and I didn't put enough effort into getting the plug into the tiny, tiny Nano. However, once I've done that, it plays great and certainly won't fail. I have also used the jack to play an iPod through my high end home stereo. Both cases are a bit strange when this one ounce, one square inch thing is powering several hundred pounds of equipment and speakers! And that's entirely possible thanks to the audio cable connection. Also, I read reviews about a similar connector sold on Apple's website. These reviews are not very good. This seems to be the best product.
