I was hesitant to buy a drive of this size without knowing anything about the manufacturer. I was positively surprised. It worked flawlessly as an external DVR drive for my Charter Spectrum system. It installs instantly (turn off the box, plug in the drive, turn on the box) and runs in the background with no issues. I've recorded 20 HD shows and it says '1% full'. (I have a 2TB version). Others have said it's a bit noisy; I'm four feet away from him and can barely hear anything. I can hear it during fast forward and other functions, but the noise is minimal. The only thing that bothers me, like others, is the blue "pilot light". It's really optional and will surely light up your room at night. Stick a piece of black tape on it; it doesn't matter much. (Note to Fantom: Make this light smaller or place it on the side/back of the device). Overall I'm happy with this disc considering it cost me about half of anything else I've watched. You can't go wrong here.
