Update: After some very strange failure modes for some reason everything worked correctly and I now have a HUGE DVR! Hooray! eSata worked well but USB 3 didn't work on one of my computers. The manufacturer sent instructions to update the firmware, but they were difficult to follow and still didn't work after the update. I have returned the product and can try another one. Products should be easy to update.

I bought this disc to complement a cable company DVR. We constantly had trouble recording shows we wanted to watch later. This disc solved that problem, and as an added bonus, we save all recorded shows if the DVR fails, which sometimes happens. Well I got this with the intention of expanding my DVR but it turned out to be incompatible. It kind of annoys me that my cable company's tech support person told me that I just need an eSATA external drive and it should work. After a reboot, this drive doesn't appear in my list of devices and drives on my Windows 10 PC until I unplug and plug the data cable back in. Then he appears. This is done with the eSata cable.
