I added this 2TB phantom drive to my charter DVR (something like DCX) and it works; but not in the way I expected from reading online. When I first plugged in the drive I got the message "needs to be formatted" and a few moments later "disk 1 is available and ready" or something. but my 8 or 10 recorded shows were still playing on the DVR so I assumed the drive wasn't working. I later noticed that what shows up as "internal storage" in the DVR settings is 28% to 5% full; so the drive works (internal 500 GB and external 2000 GB?). I later read on a charter website that the DVR would choose where the programs were stored and the customer could not tell if a particular show was recorded. on the internal or external drive. which doesn't bother me at all; just that it works! I will try to come back with my real charter/spectrum box model. They just installed it, but they gave me an old, dented, used DVR that I spent hours erasing other people's recordings from when I first started using it. (You might think you're getting new gear with the new service, but this is a charter.)
