We bought this gate after bringing an abandoned abandoned cat. We slowly integrated the new cat into our 16 year old cat and eventually used this gate as part of the onboarding process. This is one of the few gates of this height. It was very helpful for us. Our 16 year old cat can't jump that high anymore. The new cat never showed any sign of wanting to jump over it, so this very tall gate actually worked in our case. Our main problem with the goal was the distance between each crossbar. There are different widths and there are several columns where the space is quite large. The new cat was very small, weighing 7.7 pounds when we took her to the vet to check for any medical conditions. Unfortunately it was small enough to fit through the largest room. We ended up buying some cheap insulation tubing in both large and small sizes. Keeping him on my side of the web has worked great. Doesn't look pretty, but it worked! I want the gate to have the same distance between the bars across and the gate to use the smallest space on the gate. The passage area was big enough to walk through, but the top of the gates on either side you walk through are rough at the corners. I ended up making holes in some of the tops I was wearing as I rubbed them. The distance between the wall and the first turnbuckle rail is almost 4 inches, and the section where the gate opens is 3 inches. The smallest space is 2.25 inches and it would be ideal if all sections were the same size. We also used this in our hallway on the corner rather than the flat part of the wall. We weren't sure if it would work, but it worked. This allowed the cat to use 3 rooms on the upper floor. We also used two of these gates and a 56" by 6" extension grille and it worked well. The gate never fell because it didn't press against a flat wall. Complaints.
