Review on 🎧 Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2: Immersive Sound, Active Noise Cancellation, Customizable Touch Control, 28-Hour Battery Life - White by Ryan Carter

Good sound but extremely noticeable audio lag

I currently have AirPods Pro, Sony WF-1000XM3 and Powerbeats Pro. The sound quality of these TW2s was good, and so was the build quality and finish. They sat comfortably in the ears, without fatigue. The soundstage felt large and I could see detail better than my AirPods Pro. Bass was acceptable but nothing special (Powerbeats Pro and Sony were punchier and you could "feel" the rumble better, especially PBP). I should also note that there was a slight "white noise" when nothing was playing (AirPods Pro and Sony also have active ANC, but there is no such white noise), but that didn't bother me much (yours may be different). be ). However, there is a *significant* audio delay. When watching a YouTube video, the speakers and sound are noticeably out of sync. On the audio latency test, these headphones appear to have almost 300ms (3/10th of a second) latency. My AirPods Pro, Sony WF-1000XM3 and Powerbeats Pro had imperceptible latency values (to my ears). This was tested on a 2019 Macbook Pro with Catalina. For an incredible price of $300, this is totally unacceptable. I believe the main reason for this is that these TW2s are still in master-slave mode while the other 3 wireless earbuds maintain 2 separate Bluetooth connections to the source. With each of the other three, I can put the right earbud back into its case and just continue listening from the left. However, on these TW2s, the left earbud (slave) loses connection as soon as the right earbud (master) is inserted into the case. This type of pairing is worse and results in much more latency (presumably because the slave has to wait for the master to send data to it).
