I recently came across an oil filter that just couldn't be removed. The filter was old and the car saw some sort of external storage. I've tried removing the filter multiple times, even with other specialized oil filter tools, and all have failed. A tool, from a major hardware store's own brand, even RIBBED (yes the metal shatters!) before I had it all the way around the filter! I researched several specialty tools before purchasing this one. I have to say that the finish used for the levers/handles (nickel plating) at the time of purchase made me wonder if the tool would work as it kinda made me think of thinner gauge/weaker metal. However, despite some skepticism, the tool had good reviews and nothing else helped, so I decided to give it a try. When I tried it, not only did it work (minimum expectation), it also allowed me to remove the filter. incredibly easy (better than expected). From the start it was very easy to attach and clamp the filter, which was a big problem with other tools including other types installed under the filter. After the initial high torque I had to apply to get it working, it stuck to the filter (not slipping, deforming, etc.). It remained in good condition and was secured (torqued) to the filter while I completely loosened the malfunctioning filter (until it could be turned by hand). Some leaks from the instrument appeared as events unfolded, but the relatively simple design allowed me to clean it easily. Overall, this is one of my best tool purchases, and given the relatively high switching frequency, it should continue to be heavily used in the future. If you are considering this or a similar tool from your local construction/automotive hub for a stubborn filter, I would advise you to go for this and potentially save yourself a wasted trip and money (plus another trip to fix the broken one). filter to return). . Tool). This tool is also currently offered through Prime, so delivery can easily be expedited if needed. My only suggestion to the manufacturer: I would increase the strength of the levers/handles. In my opinion, an alternative finish (particularly a different color, say black or dark grey) can convey this well. Alternatively, it may be helpful to print/draw the name of the material on the side of the tool. Of course some of this information is in the listing details (at least at the time of writing this review) but I feel like it's a bit hidden and despite the good reviews this was my only doubt at the time of purchase. .
