Review on 💧 Gates 43500 Premium Engine Water Pump: Unmatched Performance and Durability by Roshan Schram

Not sure if a bad batch of these pumps circulates but the pulley on a Gates 43500 I do purchased from Revain.com March 2013 did NOT spin freely when hand-rolled. Lack of rotation of the pulley in the steering system or the water pump will result in engine damage! The pulley must rotate freely! When my mechanic loosened the bolts holding the water pump assembly to the cylinder block, the pulley turned a little (by pulley I mean the black pulley sticking out from the center in the picture of this pump). This led us to the conclusion that the impellers must hit the cylinder block surface and not spin freely - a faulty design. The stock Chrysler pump has plastic impellers, but the Gates 43500 pump I received has metal impellers. This is NOT a direct OEM replacement. Remember that buying this pump for your Dodge Neon SRT-4 will save you time lost to productivity when you have a broken car. The timing belt and water pump replacement protocol for these vehicles requires a great deal of skill and time.
