Fast great tool that saved me a lot of money. The screws could probably be of better quality but I think as long as you don't use a percussion gun you shouldn't have a problem. Honestly, you can also run to the hardware store and buy two heavy-duty bolts as spares. Another thing to mention, clean the hole in the cam where the screw goes. I took some carb cleaner and sprayed it in and then took a cotton swab and cleaned the inside so the bolt threads are smooth. The only other problem was that where the screws went into the extensions there were little metal protrusions (from manufacture?) and initially the screws didn't go all the way, I took the thin flat end and hammered out the protrusions. . After that it worked fine. Other than those two small things, the tool worked great, everything held securely in place, and for >$50 I'm not sure I could ask for more. See below for a larger overview. My car: 2004 Volvo V40 1.9 (base car) Issue: P0017 - and coincidentally P0023. The car started, started, drove fine but all the ways to get these codes and in my condition you don't pass MOT with CEL. I spent about $400 last year replacing sensors, cam, crank, CMP, timing check and a bunch of ECM diagnostics and have concluded that the cam sprockets should be off. maybe a tooth, maybe 2? Disassembled to check and install correctly went on to installing timing and what a big headache to do. I can't count the number of times I've had it good and wanted to tighten the tensioner and one or both of the cam gears came loose. In short, I collected everything, but the codes remained. Before my test was scheduled, I found that if I spent more than $400 to fix my CEL issue, I could be exempted from my test. Great, I had another year to figure out what was wrong with my car. This year I knew I needed to change the timing belt and I wanted to clear the codes and get the engine set up properly. So I bought this instrument - oh my god it was amazing! You'll have to remove a lot of cords and hoses to put the tool in place, but when you're done, your job will be a lot easier. The cams remain absolutely still, you can even slightly loosen the screws (on the front) to have play when putting on the new timing belt. Took me about 4 hours to complete the job (including cleaning), I ended up installing a new belt, tensioner, water pump etc and never had to worry about cam shifting. When the tool was off (do this after setting the tension so you can give the motor two full turns to check) the caps were back in place and I started the car. NO LAMP CHECK ENGINE. When I first used the tool, I could tell the exhaust cam was advanced a tooth (the CVT marker was removed by the previous owner), but I could only tell because the tool only engages when both cams are oriented. To the right. So to attach the tool, I removed the belt and rotated the exhaust cam to the correct angle, after which the tool stood up properly. At the moment my CEL is out, the machine is working great and I'm ready for another one. 80-100 thousand, then something needs to be done with the timing belt. I'm not sure I can say more, but I will never change a timing belt again without this type of tool. Simply amazing!
