First, this router was "updated" through the network mechanism, and there was a certificate in the box confirming this. I immediately felt better before I even plugged it in. As you can see, the package was complete, including an ethernet cable and a quick start guide. The QR code on the device for quick router setup was corrupt. I found it easier to just navigate to the default gateway address to configure it. After the initial setup, the Nighthawk app worked without any issues and I was able to opt for Netgear so I didn't have to worry about additional apps for a while. I like the idea of having a trusted two-factor device to enroll new devices. I know I need my password and trusted device to add a new device to the network. The 2.4GHz channel carries just over 650MB of incoming traffic and 25MB of incoming traffic as I sit on my porch typing this review on my phone. My desktop is hardwired and my average ping is only 17ms, I get the full 1000MB and 20 downloads. (And stream a 60-inch 4K TV show over Wi-Fi.) Very impressed. Upgraded to gig speed from 100mb just came to my area. A netgear cm1000v2 gigabit modem is also used.
