I like these little microfiber towels but I doubt I will use them for washing dishes. If someone wanted to use them for drying or dishwashing, I'm sure they would work. I used one to wipe up a small amount of water and yes they are absorbent. This is a finely quilted microfiber perfect for small jobs. They make excellent dusters and last quite a while depending on the size I choose. For heavy work I use Kirkland microfiber cloths. They're not particularly soft, but they're great for all the messy jobs I have. These are durable, towel-like fabrics yet ultra-soft. I cleaned the dust with one of the small ones and was very satisfied. I love this type of microfiber and will keep these cloths for dusting. Because these cloths are light in color, mostly pastel colors, I can easily tell when the cloth is full of dust. As for washing, I can keep them separate and wash on the gentle cycle. For microfiber, I don't use fabric softener, including dryer sheets. Thus, they retain the ability to collect dust. Yes they can be used for crockery but not in this house. I love everything about these little microfiber towels from the color to the look.
