I have had slotted and recessed EBC rotors with another well known pad brand for several years. Either Wagner or Raybestos. I can't remember which one. They have always had very poor cold stopping performance. The pads we wear stick to the rotors, filling in the grooves and crevices and making them very rough. I installed the rotors and power stop pads, disassembled them exactly according to the instructions and they work very well. The truck stops smoothly with no noise and they work well when cold. Update: I had to make some very abrupt stops in heavy traffic. These brakes grip so well that they keep my tires walking the fine line between locking and rolling. They have never worked so well before. I cannot praise these brakes enough.
