The cover does not add weight to the tablet, but still looks solid and durable. I love that the lid is magnetic when closed so it doesn't damage the screen in my purse. I mainly use it in flights and the curved back/stand for watching videos is the perfect angle for me. I was even able to hang the tablet on my TV by attaching the cover to the top of the TV. It held up great and was perfect for video calls. It's not a shockproof case, but it's perfect for my needs. We got a much heavier suitcase with a handle for a 2 year old when traveling. Although he never uses the tablet unattended, accidents do happen :)
