I have to preface this review with two things: 1) I have no experience with the original Curlformer brand (other than the hook). So don't know how these compare to those. 2) I have hair type 4 (4C with some damage/naturally looser texture at the back). While there's a learning curve, it doesn't take long to get the hang of it - with the OFFICIAL Curlformer hook; Please ignore the blue wand that comes with it. The only thing that will pull this hook out is your hair on your head. Once you put them down, it will definitely do what it's supposed to. Assuming I don't apply it to my hair when it's wet (I leave it on a towel to dry it a bit), it dries in less than 4 hours and less than 2 if I blow dry extensively, all with good stretch. . I usually do this to keep my hair neatly in a bun for a week, but I do notice the waves and parting linger for a while afterwards, so I'm sure with the right styling products you can keep the style for a while can maintain while week. All in all, I can't imagine you feeling like you've spent any money on them when they're so cheap and available over the internet. Try it.
