When I first saw this cover I knew both my wife and I would love it, in theory. We have a 25 pound little lifeguard who loves going to the dog park no matter the weather. She's also half whippet and doesn't really seem to know or care what she's going through at her insane speed - mud puddles, puddles and everything just becomes part of the fun for her when she's racing. However, putting them in our car, which we try to keep clean, is not much fun despite dog owners. We have used blankets and towels in the past, neither of which stayed in place and protected the seat. Then we bought a Solvit seat cover! ASSEMBLY / QUALITY As soon as I unpacked it, I was very pleased to see that the material of the housing is anything but cheap. It's certainly not the best fabric in the world, but it's definitely good quality and goes very well with our Subaru Outback. Seams in key areas (holding elastic and hardware) look solid. Another key feature that drew me in was the waterproof backing. Sometimes we go to a dog park that has a beach and lake nearby (Bow Wow Beach if you're in Ohio), and while we wash and dry our pup, it's nice to know we're not putting too much into it must make an effort to make it dry! The whole thing is also machine washable (cold water only), which was expected but appreciated nonetheless. DESIGN The design of the Solvit case ensures that the soul stays in place no matter what. "sta-put" devices (I hate marketing terms) do a very good job when hidden in the seat! There are two loops that go through the headrests and as they are very wide they fit well in most cars. They are also adjustable and it is not difficult to press the cover against the back of the seat. I was glad it didn't sag as that would have taken away some of the cover's key aesthetic points. I ONLY managed to get the bottom rubber straps under our seat - our Subaru has a tiny toothpick wide hole - a little narrower and it wouldn't get through and I suspect that would be one of the main reasons. People give it back (if they ever do). Overall it took me about three minutes to install and configure, and with a little tweaking everything looks very good. The seat belt ports are very wide to fit most cars, although honestly I would remove them if we had guests in the car. However, my wife and I have commented that it's a good idea for people who have kids (waterproof and machine washable) and we almost agree to have one of these when our kids are younger! Overall - Well made - Incredibly comfortable - Waterproof - Easy to fit - Machine washable It really is a 5 star "I love it!" product like this and at this price I have no problem if it wears out after a few years is , and I have to buy another one. It protects our subie excellently and our little dog seems to find it very comfortable. The deluxe version is definitely worth the extra money and I HIGHLY recommend it!
