Summary: Very warm, light weight, slightly oversized Although not for their intended purpose (mountain climbing) I got these mainly for skiing is very cold (<10°F) and my gloves don't cut. The back panel is a thin, lightweight nylon webbing that's reasonably durable, but if your skiing or snowboarding style often involves things like ankle dragging, deflecting branches, or slapping snow/ice, this probably isn't for you. If you're just swimming in powder nirvana and/or don't have the backs of your hands touching anything rough then they should hold up well to winter sports, but I chose medium as I mostly wear them with medium weight liners. I probably should have gone with Small. The thumb fits well, but the finger section is a bit longer for my short fingers, and the main finger section is big enough to make a fist (thumb included) and more. The cuffs are very long, reaching almost to the elbow when fully extended. However, because the insulation ends about 1 inch above the wrist band, the remaining 5 inches of thin, uninsulated cuff can be easily rolled up if you don't want it to look that way. /Function. Dexterity certainly isn't great, but enough to hold sticks etc and just lightly fiddle with lightning. Design: - The seams on the thumb bridge (picture) could be better placed for both the outer skin and the lining underneath. Because of the way it fits in my hand (YMMV) it sits right on the second thumb joint where my grip puts pressure when holding the tool/bar/handle. It's not bad, the seams feel as small and flat as possible and the insulation helps distribute pressure all around, but it's still a little annoying, especially for this price point. Inner lining made of high-pile fleece (image). When new they feel amazingly warm, soft and cozy, but I've had other similarly lined gloves that after a few seasons of pole use have become significantly thicker and lost much of their ability to retain heat. Not to say of short use but I'm a bit skeptical about the functional durability of fleece in the palm of your hand when you're holding things up. The uncompressed back should stay nice and warm. It would be nice if the bracelet had a way to prevent it from sagging in the wind. The skin is very elastic. They are not as durable as work gloves but not as delicate as golf/driver gloves. - Suede thumb lining. - The straps are a good length, not too long and not too short. I'm not sure why it has a rubber tip though, except maybe the straps need to be neat (sewing together will do the same thing and save a gram) or as a fallback in case the main articulated line breaks. Made in Vietnam. There are no particular problems with the quality of workmanship - the seams are even, the fluff does not leak, all the seams are good.
