Review on DEWALT DGL523 Lighted Backpack 57 Pockets by Daniel Postle

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Looks great, functionally useless. Take a close look and read my review.

Update: The Klein I mention below is fantastic and still going strong after 8 months. Be sure to buy! In fact I can buy a spare because in a few years if it ever wears out I want to make sure it's in stock. I was happy to try. I've been a field engineer for 25 years. Unfortunately I hated it after receiving it. It was cumbersome with two pages and had a lot of wasted space with a billion tiny pockets too small to use. There was little or no space for zipper storage. And the pockets were so small that no tools could fit in them. Look closely at the photo, the pockets are ridiculously small. It wasn't very spacious in general either. The photo shows a set of tools squeezed into the front but if you look closely it will never close, it's too small. It took me 2 seconds to put my tools in before deciding to send it back. I would hate to use it every second if I kept it. Thank goodness Revain has such a good returns policy. I replaced it with Klein 55482. Small is almost perfect. It can be fully opened, giving excellent access to the tool. It's light orange on the inside so you can see inside. And it has the best ratio of tool bags to storage bags. Pockets are good and deep. He's spacious. Fill it with tools and there's still room in the middle for an extra zippered pocket and a power tool. It's also very durable. Its rigidity means that when opened, it will not collapse under the weight of the tools placed inside. I think every electrician I've seen in the past few weeks has wanted to steal it. I can say this bag is as good as it gets. I might buy another one just as insurance against them making it in the future when it finally wears out.
