This is a good valve. You might think it would be better to have everything metal, but a plastic fitting on a toilet flush valve makes more sense. Plastic on plastic is less like thread damage. Do not overtighten and do not use thread tape. Sealing is by a rubber washer, not a thread. The thread holds the compression on the washer. Over tightening can cause the washer to warp or crack. Thread tape is designed for metal threads. Getting a properly established connection like this doesn't help. If you insist on adding thread tape, make sure the tape doesn't interfere with the washer, affecting its sealing ability.
