Review on Smartwool Pressure Free Crew Sock by Rafael Lewis

These socks are NOT REQUIRED!

Smartwool socks, as always, excellent quality. Warm wool, flat toe seam and good fit. I wear size 10 women's shoes, so I ordered a large size. The leg piece was a good fit. I would love this brand except they are totally CRAZY and have VERY TIGHT STRETCH sewn into the leg cuffs. Smartwools has some of the slimmest cuffs in the entire sock industry. So I was thrilled when I found out they offer an OPTIONAL version of their amazing socks! Unfortunately, when they arrived I experienced a sad disappointment. These so-called "non-binding" socks left a horrible, DEEP wound on my leg. As a diabetic, I can't allow that. I have a relatively thin ankle and found the cuffs to be a lot softer on my ankle so I tried to squeeze them to avoid terribly shackling my leg. They even left a small imprint on my ankle, but nothing dangerous. It would look a little neater if I could fold the cuff back like socks, but there are a lot of messy, dangling drawstrings inside the Smartwool socks that look ugly when worn inside out. I'm not sure why a high quality sock should be associated with such a low quality standard but it doesn't affect the overall quality or durability so I don't mind if the sock performs as advertised. My overall impression of any type of Smartwool sock is that the people who own and run this company are meant to be slim, fit, and athletic people and their socks are aimed at the slim, fit, and athletic customer. I seriously doubt that anyone in this company has any idea of the needs of people ordering a non-binding sock. Thank you for reading my long review! I hope that was helpful!
