Review on πŸ”Š Elac Debut IW-D61-W Custom In-Wall Speaker (Ea), Black - Superior Sound Quality and Sleek Design by Darrell Kiley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Absolutely great wall speakers but the dog ear mounting system requires some work!

Incredible sound reproduction and build quality! The only problem is that the "dog-ears" don't fully open to grab the backing of the drywall! Mounting screws that screw into brass? The inserts in the plastic pawls do not have enough friction between the machine screw and the filled nut. So if you turn the screws clockwise to grab the back of the drywall, the dog-ears just stay down and don't rotate up 90 degrees to grab the back of the drywall. drywall. My solution (I love these speakers so much I don't want to return them) was to do a "quick punch" and make 3 or 4 indentations in the machine screw threads to eliminate a slight warp in the threads generate, so now the dog's ears will sway. 90 degrees, and as the screw continues to turn, the tabs remain "twisted" outward, allowing the speaker to actually be tightened into the hole in the drywall. I hope the German ELAC engineers can solve this problem as I just ordered an In Wall Debut IW-DC51-W center channel speaker, I hope it doesn't have the same problem! PS: These speakers appear to be made in the US or Germany as there is no "Made in China" label on the packaging?
