Probably the best money you'll spend today

I've been trying to find a good OBD scanner that doesn't cost much and doesn't require an automotive engineering degree to use. I previously bought one that connected to an app on my phone. a waste of money as he did a lot of nice stuff, but the reading was so random that its accuracy couldn't be relied on (and sometimes you couldn't get it to read at all). This is possibly the easiest and most accurate of all I've tried so far. It really was that easy to set up as 'take out of the box and use'. The codes were easy to understand and the book and information you can get from their website made everything a breeze. I have a 2005 model that seems to randomly turn on the "Check Engine" light, and I had to pay the guy at Firestone to clean the code semi-annually (other than the age, there's nothing wrong with the car), but I can clean this code in seconds with this thing. I made a video and also a photo from the website. just to make sure you've seen the fine print that every time you update the manual or the software/firmware it appears on this page. It's well packaged and can be left in your car if needed, and basically it's an almost perfect tool for people like me who used to take care of their cars when dinosaurs roamed the earth, but now I need something like this to help me see if I can handle it or if I need to see a real mechanic. While it might not be such a technical gizmo, it gets the job done. Verdict: This is what you need, unless you really need a pricey Pro model it should do what you need and will probably save you. some cash if you're dealing with a dishonest mechanic, or let them know if you need one. 5 Stars
