I bought this adapter because my iMac's Thunderbolt ports weren't working - apparently a common problem with iMacs. I needed a second monitor so I bought this USB to VGA adapter cable to get around the mini display/lightning connector issue. I connected the monitor to my iMac with a new cable and the second monitor worked fine at first but soon started flickering. On the second day I noticed that when editing a document in Word on an additional monitor, the page kept twitching. Very annoying. Also, it wasn't easy to maneuver with the mouse in both scenes. I could only move in one direction, say in orbit around the screen - with no ability to walk back and forth. Finally, on the third day, the second monitor simply stopped working. I thought maybe the monitor is bad. So I gave up that newer iMac and various cables for the older one I have. I used a standard VGA mini monitor cable adapter on the second monitor and it works fine, so I know the USB cable I bought is not working properly, not the monitor. The mouse also works great on both screens. I can't say for sure what happened to the USB-VGA cable other than that it stopped working and never worked properly. I will not try to get my money back. It's not worth the two hours I would spend with Revane. Have a nice day and maybe this cable will work for you
