Review on Spectre Performance Universal Clamp-On Air Filter SPE-8168: High Performance, Washable Filter - 3-4.75 inch Flange ID, Round Tapered Design - White by Gregory Braddock

Revainrating 2 out of 5

No seals No wheels for spares

After installing the new muffler, the choice of the cone filter made sense. After attaching, the filter makes a noise that doesn't sound like my stock airbox. It's not as obvious as a turbo, but it's nicer than the last drops of a soft drink through a straw. All of this happens at around 3000 rpm on my vacuum truck. On the smooth and flat surfaces of the Autobahn, the filter won my heart. Unfortunately, due to my poor fit, the downsides of removing my stock components have become startlingly obvious. Stop-and-go traffic jams or serious sinks under the underpass were enough to test my clutches. They failed, and as a result, my car with a CVT stalled like a mechanic. It was awkward (and a little embarrassing). Luckily my stash was in the trunk. However, I decided to save time by fixing the loose connections. All experience has taught me that without a sealed inlet the engine is unlikely to run properly. Therefore, I can only recommend this product to vehicle owners who need cone filters. Most of these cars are muscle cars. No filter is needed for my car which normally idles at 600rpm. Despite my 2 out of 5 rating, the filter is more appealing in person than it is on screen. In fact, it was just its charm that allowed me to spend so much time under the hood of my car. The problem with this product is its incompatibility with standard OEM hardware. If I were to buy a cold air intake from a high performance auto filter manufacturer [wink wink] the look and function might change. On the other hand, the money I spent on 3" to 2.5" clutches and other components does not exceed the total cost of resale. Under no circumstances should you remove the stock airbox or install a cone filter on the throttle body. I guarantee you will only encounter obstacles e.g. B. where your mass air flow sensor goes. Attached to this review is a photo of my intake assembly after the standard components have been removed. There are at least four critical points where air leaks are possible. For those of you who decide to purchase a cone filter, please look for a solid tubular device to serve as the inlet that will fit both the existing throttle body and the new filter.

Pros
  • Special Power: State-of-the-art filter media deliver 50% more airflow than disposable paper filters for more power and acceleration. Clogged or dirty air filters can reduce your car's acceleration by up to 10%.
