The set contains a small booklet that explains in detail how to work with brushes. The colors are vibrant and blend easily with a water pencil. I've used them on a variety of papers and they work well on all surfaces but best on cold pressed watercolor paper. The water handle has a nice springy brush end and it took a while to get used to the pressure to get the right amount of water out. My grip has a bit of a leak where it's screwed in, but that's probably user error, not a quality defect. The overall quality of the set is excellent and I do a lot of watercolor painting using traditional methods. I use them along with traditional watercolor techniques. The crisp, fine-tipped brushes make them great for writing and adding fine detail. I really enjoy using them and recommend them to artists over 5 years old.
