I am an industrial electrician. Given that modern industrial electronics tend to throw away components and modules, old-school guys like me balk. A small soldered relay, a resistor, a capacitor, a transistor and many other elements are the cause of the failure. These components can be replaced for pennies, but you won't be able to do it without the right soldering kit. This iron has adjustable temperature settings so you don't overheat the components, just melt the solder. Multiple tips that allow you to be as precise as you need without damaging nearby solder joints. The solder suction cup has good traction so most solder can be removed quickly and cleanly in one step. Tweezers are a good addition, as is a dip sponge for cleaning the tips. A spool of lead free (tin) solder was a bonus. My last desoldering pump was purchased from Radio Shack 10 years ago for $17 which is 2/3 the price of this kit. My cheap soldering iron was $20 at the hardware store 3 years ago, with a tip and no temperature control. Here you both get a little more bargain than anyone else in my opinion.
