Review on 🌟 White Spellbinders Platinum PL-001 Cut and Emboss Machine by Kelly Caballes

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Difficult to roll out a large thin sheet, it cuts through, but it cuts well. Very heavy and hard feeling. DOES NOT COME WITH LARGE DIES

I wanted a die with a wider bed and was hesitating between Big Shot Plus and Spellbinders. I ordered it once when this was under $100. As with the Big Shot Plus, it does NOT come with large cutting inserts - a ridiculous decision by both companies as I think it only annoys consumers who have to buy. large cutting inserts separately. But I did it anyway and grumbled at it. The platform has an overall width and length of 12 inches. The magnetic cutting platform (also NOT INCLUDED) is smaller than 8.5 x 12. I ordered the magnetic cutting platform but it was lost in transit and the replacement never arrived. I might try my Sizzix magnetic platform in it as it seems to be the same size. In terms of actual cutting, it cuts well. Any thin slab with a straight edge on the leading edge feels like I'm forcing the machine to roll a sandwich. Probably most dies can be placed so that this problem does not occur, but I have cut two envelope dies (they cut a solid A2 shape) and they are too wide to rotate diagonally and the machine seems to be having trouble get a platform. Die and two cutting plates between the rollers. Maybe it will loosen a little after use. It works fine on all other stamps I've cut. I haven't tried embossing folders yet, but I think I'll keep using them in my usual Big Shot size. My main goal for the wide platform is to cut envelope dies as I seem obsessed with making decorative envelopes to go with my cards and while getting a roll sandwich is a little scary it cuts beautifully. So far I have no regrets. If the Big Shot Plus fell like that, I'd buy it instead. The best prize won.
