Revainrating 5 out of 5

good camera suitable for point and shoot digital cameras

I've only been using it for a day so first impressions are the key (first impressions count). I will update this review in a few weeks. I gave it five stars because it does everything I want it to. It seems well built. It's very easy to use. It takes really good pictures. It's compact and lightweight. There are several annoying moments that can be compensated. The camera's description says it uses a memory card, not a specific type. Maybe it's somewhere. I assumed a regular sized SD card was being used (like the Canon Powershot it replaces). It uses a micro SD card, which I'll have to get hold of. Until then I have to use the internal storage. That's enough for six photos or three seconds of video. At least I can test different functions and see how they work. I emailed myself some photos. This feature works well, but the image will be compressed when emailed. A photo of 3 or 4 megabytes in its original form is sent to an email address of 400 or 500 kilobytes. It would be nice if it was possible to send a high resolution photo. Actually this is done by connecting the camera to a computer and copying the file, but it would be nice to be able to do this directly from the camera. Also, when you send an email, the camera saves the email address, but you cannot delete any of these addresses. I may have to search through many email addresses, including ones that are no longer used. Perhaps a future software update will fix both of these issues. The battery does not seem to work. I had to charge it twice. My cannon's battery seemed to last forever, but there was no wifi and the photos were 10MB in size. This Samsung camera has many battery draining features, but it would be nice to have a more powerful battery. The charging cable for the battery is too short. I need to use the cable that came with another device I have. For me the cord should be a foot long. Because I don't have a micro SD card, I can't update the firmware (I received a message about this) and I can't set my smartphone as a viewfinder. Again, these are minor issues that don't detract from the fact that this appears to be a nice little camera that I'll likely get a lot of use from.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Strap
