I've tried various soldering surfaces from charcoal to honeycomb to fireblock and found this ceramic top to be my favorite. yes he is small But as long as you're not welding something with a traditional welder, it's fine for small soldering projects. I use it all the time with my copper and sterling silver soldering torches and it's holding up great. I like the "legs" that are just extensions of the soldering board itself (not the detachable legs that furniture has) because they hold it up from my carbon block underneath. It's a bit pricey for a single board, but as long as you don't litter it around, it's worth every penny. I don't see a need to replace this for a very long time.
