Bought as a gift. Bf uses it about once a week or maybe every week and a half. I gave it to him in December 2017 and this week (mid-August 2018) he passed away. He changed the battery to see if that's the case. Still does not work. Looks like a guarantee, I'll give it a try. The warranty terms on Wahl's website show that you have to pay the postage to have it delivered to them, so that sucks considering it was $18 and shipping would probably be around $5. Maybe the manufacturer is banking on the fact that most people won't bother sending an $18 purchase for warranty if you have to pay for shipping? Who knows. When he worked, he said he was great. Very sharp and easy to use.
